October Days: State Teacher Meetings

State Teacher Meetings occur on October 7-8, 2010. Although these are not contract days for our certified employees, we encourage teachers and administrators to attend workshops to further their professional knowledge and skills.

The following is a list of workshops that will be held on October 7-8 throughout the State:

“From Rome to Iraq, Civil Wars in History”Idaho Council for History Education History and Social Sciences Conference

  • Dates: October 7-8, 2010
  • Where: Boise High School, 1010 Washington St., Boise, Idaho
  • What: A conference for K-16 history and social science teachers and other interested professionals. Keynote, plenary session, and Distinguished Teaching American History (TAH) Speakers include David Armitage, Carol Berkin, Victor Davis Hanson, Matthew Pinsker, Pulitzer Prize-winners Edwin Burrows and Steven Hahn, and special guest Joanne Freeman.
    COST: Early registration through September 17 is $60. Registration after September 17 is $75; retired educator rate is $50, full-time student registration is $40.

Idaho Science Teachers Association (ISTA) Fall Conference

  • Dates: October 7-8, 2010
  • Where: Lewiston, ID
  • What: ISTA, in conjunction with Partners in Education (PIE), would like to invite all K-12 teachers, administrators, and counselors to the fall conference. Dave Shepard will be back in Idaho, sharing his incites and ideas on school reform, not to mention his active learning strategies every teacher should know. Other speakers include Dayle Hayes, who will be speaking on school nutrition, Robert Hayes presenting on working with high risk students, and Dr. Kathie Nunley who will speak on how students' brains work and layered curriculum.
