Kuna Superintendent Announces Retirement
Jay Hummel, Superintendent of Schools for the Kuna Joint School District No. 3 will retire effective June 30. Jay has been with the school district since 2005.
During his eight years, Jay successfully lead the school district to improved student achievement which included more students graduating and ready to go on to post-secondary education. Jay’s high level of understanding of school district funding in Idaho made him an integral part of leading the school district, Trustees, and staff through tough financial times brought on by budget cuts on the State level over the last several years. Jay’s strong belief and example in collaboration has Kuna setting a high standard as one of the few districts in Idaho to bargain collaboratively. Not only is his collaborative practice evident at the negotiations table, but it is also evident in his daily practice where one can often find him seeking input from Trustees, administrators, teachers, directors or staff in his decision-making process.
The Kuna School Board of Trustees wishes Jay the best of luck in his new endeavors as Superintendent for the Ashland School District.
The Kuna School Board of Trustees has found a person who is well suited to meet the district’s needs as Superintendent. That candidate is Assistant Superintendent Wendy Johnson. The Trustees would like to hold a formal interview process with Wendy in a public interview on May 20 at 7:00 PM at the Kuna School District Office.
