WHERE TO GO AND WHAT TO DO

Make sure to attend the Friday meetings to pick up your race card and receive updates. You cannot race without a card, and there is an attendance requirement for lettering at both meetings and races. Meetings will be held Fridays, in the library, directly after school. Let an advisor know if you cannot attend.

Make sure your race card ACCURATELY states your name, school, and race classification (example: Frieda Fritz, Kuna High School, F, SBI) If there is an error, or you do not understand what your classification is, see an advisor immediately! Racing out of your classification will result in a no-time. It hurts your over-all individual results, and it hurts the Kuna team’s standings.

SHOW UP TO RACE and CHECK IN! If it is your first race, we think it is awesome that you are joining us, so don’t talk yourself out of coming because you never raced before, you don’t think you are very good, or any other excuse! You will do just fine, and we are happy to have you be part of our team! We will help you find your race, and get you started!
Show up and check in with your advisors on race days in the locker room (first floor, right of stairs) in the Pioneer Lodge (upper lodge) between 11:30 and noon. If no advisor is present, check back! If you have your race card you may line up without checking in, however, if you have not checked in and there is any discrepancy concerning whether or not you showed up and raced, etc., we will not be able to verify your attendance if you have not checked in. Returning members, f you have been assigned a first-time race partner for the first two races, please make certain to find your partner, make sure they have their helmet, their questions are answered, and get them to the start of their race.

Line up at your race start, with your helmet on, ready to race, at 12:15 p.m. The earlier you line up, the quicker you will be through with your race. We are aware it is cold standing in line, and many of you choose to ski/board until around 12:30ish, but when you do that, you risk missing your race altogether. When the last in line racer goes, the starter and timers will close the course. Don’t risk it! If you purchased a discounted lift ticket, but do not race, you will loose your discount. All races are held off Bitteroot (by chair 5, behind the Pioneer Condos). Be on time, and make certain you do not line up on the trail. The line must be below the trail so as not to impede other skiers, boarders. Please do not throw snowballs, or push and shove other racers in line. If you are cited for disciplinary problems you will be DQ’d the first time, and dropped from the team if it happens again. You are from Kuna! Represent!

Show your race card to the starter. Keep it in your goggle strap (or otherwise handy), so you can hand it to the starter when you line up for your go at the start. If you do not have your card handy, the starter can ask you to move to the back of the line.

Give your race card to the timer. When you are finished racing, stop near the finish line at make your way to the timer. Hand your race card to the timer, and ski off. You have completed your race for the day (UNLESS you have been required to assist with course maintenance.) DO NOT SPRAY THE TIMERS OR RECORDERS! They may DQ a racer for spray, language, or attitude, and have done so in the past. In fact, any advisor, from any school – not just your own – may DQ you for unacceptable language, behavior, or pass cheating. Thank you in advance for good behavior and being a great representative for Kuna!

Contact your advisors (Ms. Payne – 866-4780, and Mrs. Morgan – 955-0200) with any question, otherwise, begin again with #1 each week!

YOU ARE AN AWESOME TEAM! GOOD LUCK!

RACE IT LIKE YOU MEAN IT!

See you on the hill!

Always Ski/Board Responsibly!
