About Me
I guess I was born drawing, as my mother used to tell me. I loved my chalk board and drew and drew. Although my dad was dismayed that I was left handed, both my parents encouraged my artistic ability.
I graduated from the University of Idaho with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Jewelry Design in 1978 then decided in 1979 to get my teaching certification.
I married in 1979, followed by three wonderful children, and a husband who was transferred around the country ...so I was a say-at-home studio artist mom for years.
I've had two one-woman watercolor shows in Oregon where I sold many paintings and was commissioned to paint for clients and businesses. When we were transferred to North Carolina, I became the Executive Director of the Granville County Arts Council . My job was to bring in ballets, musicals, symphonies, artists, etc. from around the country to enrich our little community. Having to write the big grants was the least favorite of that job. Again, I never stopped painting and sold several paintings when I was back East.
In West Virginia, I started a business (painting furniture in the tromp le oeil technique) that was starting to boom until my husband was transferred back to Idaho. Consequently, the high school art teacher quit in 1998, I thought "hummmmm..." and the rest is history.
