Reed Parent Advisory Team (PAT)

What's going on with the Parent Advisory  Team ?

Plenty!!

PAT member and parent volunteer, Scott Macaluso, continues to head up and supervise Reed Elementary intramurals. The school offers friendly team sports every Thursday, during lunch recess, with a class competition within grades 3-6 to see who has the best record at the end of the year. This has become a major hit at school with the kids. They are always excited about their turn to participate. The games are focused on teams and vigorous activity plus a lot of fun for the kids. The games this year vary from extreme soccer to foxtail kickball. Scott has been solely managing the progam every week and would love to have some assistance. If you would like to come out and play or help supervise, please contact the Reed office at 208.955.0275.

Also...

The Reed Talent Show will be held May 7th, 2010, with tryouts being held April 12-16, 2010. Fourth, fifth and sixth graders will audition April 12-16, 2010, before a group of parents, students and teachers.  Musical instruments are played, gymnastics and karate are performed, and there are many singers and dancers, to name some of the talent.  Approximately twelve acts are chosen to perform before the entire student body.

And...

Reed Elementary has several simple, zero cost, ongoing, fundraising programs.  The money and products earned with these programs goes directly to the school to help with ongoing programs at Reed.
Boxtops for Education Clipart

  • Box Tops for Eduation - Students, teachers, parents, grandparents, and family friends can all help out with the BTFE program, by simply clipping and sending in Box Tops from participating products.  Each Box Top is worth 10 cents, which adds up quickly.  In January, 2010 alone, Reed earned $533, and approximately $1500 for the 2008-2009 School year..  The state average is $500, so Reed students really know how to keep collecting.  Students know that each month there is a contest, and the classroom with the highest monthly total wins a small prize, (ie. pencils, or healthy snacks) plus the bragging rights for that month.  Last year the Box Tops money bought a new set of play ground balls for every classroom in school.  Box Tops for Eduacation is a easy programs that utilizes something you would otherwise throw away.  Visit www.btfe.com for participating products.

Campbell's Labels For Education clipart

  • Campbell's Labels for Education - This is similar to box tops, however rather an earning cash the school earn points which they can spend on items from the Labels Catalog.  It takes lots of collecting to earn items for the school, but we do our best with this program.  Visit www.labelsforeducation.com for more information.

Albertsons Community Partners Clipart

  • Albertsons Community Partners - This is perhaps the easiest program.  If you shop at Albertsons each time you use your preferred card you can earn cash back for the school.  It's easy to sign up, just go to www.albertsons.com and click on the "In the Community" Link at the bottom of the page, then click on the Community Partners link on the right hand side of the page and sign up.  It's just that easy, if you have students at more than one school you can split your donations accordingly.
  • Reed also collects and recycles used ink cartridges and cell phones, the drop off area for these is in the entry way to the school.
