LITERACY THROUGH TECHNOLOGY - Handout I created for Boise State Writing Project with ways to integrate technology both at home and in the classroom. (It has the below web-sites as well).
READING WEB-SITES
Hubbard's Cupboard - Great place to find printable books and fun literacy activities for your child. Also, there are some fun, educational resources for your child as well.
Starfall - awesome interactive reading activities that can be done on the computer. There are also resources for writing and holidays and a special place for parents to have some enrichment activities. It's a teacher favorite!
www.drjean.org – My personal favorite! There are many reading, science and math activities and projects. You can also buy our favorite CDs which include the Tooty Ta, Bubble Gum, Macarena Math, etc.
www.enchantedlearning.com – This site is also a teacher favorite because it has printable books. There are many animal activities, art, social studies and science. There are some interactive pages as well as pages to copy.
www.dltk-teach.com – Don’t let the teacher part of this fool you. There are good mini books at this site as well. Fun alpha buddies’ activities to do as well.
www.timeforkids.com – If you like current events, maps, and science. This is the site for you. There are kid reporters and even some games you can try. This is more a family site than anything because there’s a little something for everyone and is less independent than some.
http://kids.nationalgeographic.com – If your kids love animals and places, you will love this! There are videos and games and cool activities. I am amazed at the quality of the videos.
www.kidzone.ws Fun facts in all subject areas make this an interesting site. If you want to pick your brain, go here!
www.akidsheart.com – This site is geared for pre-school, but there are still some fun dress-up games where kids can manipulate clothes for a penguin, etc. and then print. There are coloring pages, clip art and greeting cards as well.
