Who is Mrs. Edwards?
This is my seventh year teaching music education in the Kuna district. I received my (B.M.E.) Bachelor's degree in Music Education certified K-12 in band, orchestra, choir and general music from B.S.U. (Boise State University). I received my level I (summer 2003) and level II (summer 2004) certification in Orff-Schulwerk from the University of Las Vegas, NV. I am honored to say I was able to study with Randy DeLelles, Jeff Kriske, Sue Mueller and Kay Lehto. I completed level III in the summer of 2005 and studied under Shirley McRae. I also completed my master's degree in educational leadership/administration fro N.N.U. in May 2007.
I play the piano, flute, piccolo, Caribbean steel drum, soprano, alto and tenor recorder. I have performed in many ensembles such as the B.S.U. symphonic winds and marching band. I also performed in the Idaho State University Caribbean Steel Drum Band and concert band. I graduated from Highland High School in Pocatello Idaho and participated in marching, concert and pep band. My high school band director Mr. Jay Ronk inspired me to become a music educator.
I am a member of A.O.S.A. (American Orff-Schulwerk Association), M.E.N.C. (The National Association for Music Education), I.O.S.A (Idaho Orff-Schulwerk Association). I am currently serving on the Idaho Orff chapter board as the secretary. I also served a term as music historian. I have served on the Kuna school district building and safety committee and building configuration committee. I am a member of K.E.A. (Kuna Educators Association), NEA (National Educators Association) and I.E.A. (Idaho Educators Association). In May of 2005 I applied and received the KEA teacher scholarship to continue my summer classes.
On October 6th and 7th, 2005 I presented a session, "How to Develop An Orff Ensemble with a Caribbean Flare Using Steel Drums" at the Idaho Orff Association State In-service Conference in Boise, ID.
