Accelerated Reading

*AR goals are based on students reading 4 books at their reading level in one quarter

*AR goal percentage and overall AR testing percentage are recorded as 10% of student's overall quarterly Reading grade.

Genre Reports

*These reports are designed to encourage students to explore book genres outside their normal comfort area.  Our overall hope with this program is to broaden your child's knowledge of literature and maybe introduce them to a style of writing that they may not have explored on their own!

*Four new genres are chosen each quarter.

*Genre Reports are worth another 10% of a student's overall quarterly Reading grade.

*Students are required to present two genres to the the class using one of the projects   outline below.  The remaining two genre projects may be turned in without presention.

So what's a genre anyway, click here for more.

Reading Logs

*Students are required to read 30 minutes every school night.  This reading can be anything ranging from comic books to their AR book from school.  Students need to record their reading on a MONTHY reading log.  This reading log is a significant portion of their reading grade and is due the first school day following the end of the month they read.  Reading logs must be completed with a parent signature to be taken for a grade.  If you child looses their log click on the link below to print off another.
