Spelling

home

I run two separate spelling programs with my language arts kids. The first is based on spelling conventions (rules) and the words are connected to the stories we read from our reading series. These are two week lists, with tests usually falling every other Friday. The second is based on high-frequency words (the words the kids read and write every day). These are commonly known as "no-excuse words". These tests can fall on any day of the week as the students are expected to know these words always, not just for a test.
