Dear Parents,

We are studying AMAZING ANIMALS in reading and are excited to begin our own “Amazing Animal” research reports!  The last two weeks we have read about a few different animals including a silly dog and many species of ants.  Each student has chosen an animal to study on his or her own.  We will be spending the next weeks researching our chosen animal and writing a detailed, organized report on this animal.

We will use the school library and computer lab to help with our research.  However, I would like the students to do research on their own (or with your help) at home as well.  It is important to carry over work between school and home.  Please help your child by following the “Report Requirements” attached.  Any resource is encouraged including the Internet, books, encyclopedia, magazines, etc.

The students are all very excited about this and I am excited to see the outcomes!  We are focusing on “text organization” in these reports and will spend hands-on time organizing out thoughts to put into a paper.  The report will end up being about 5 paragraphs (short) in order to include all of the information.  I can’t wait to see their amazing writing skills and comprehension focus shine in this project!

Please let me know if you have any questions!

Thank You,
