Ross Highlights

Growth Celebrations

We're so proud of our students as they've been completing their Reading and Math January testing--we have seen so much growth in our students!

In Reading, our teacher teams have worked so hard with students to achieve HIGH GROWTH for our readers in both 4th and 5th grade. Students are working so hard on their growth too, setting goals and monitoring their goals with graphs and charts in their AVID binders. The picture chart shows the high growth of students at Ross!

In Math, we're also seeing major growth, with over half our students already having reached their one year of growth for the year in Math skills.

With such amazing teacher teams and students working so hard, the sky is the limit for our students!

Student Goal Setting

Students set goals for their learning in Math, Reading, and other areas like Typing, Music, and PE. They keep their goals in their binders so they can see exactly where they are in their learning.

Ask your student one of the goals they are working on right now.

Here's some examples of student goal setting pages from Mrs. Hunter's and Mrs. Johnson's classes!

Starbase has started!

Four of our 5th grade classes attended Starbase this week--Mrs. Hunter on Tuesday and Mrs. Gambill, Smith, and Marshall on Friday (Mrs. Johnson's class will go in February).

Cell phones and smart watches

ross is a learning zone

Ross is a Learning Zone!

Ross is a learning zone. We want to have uninterrupted instruction time and we want kids to be able to play with each other.

For that reason, we have any students with cell phones leave them in their backpacks during the school day (except for medical uses). Smart watches can be used as watches or tools (example: the calculator function), but not as a cell phone (example: texting).

If a student is using their phone or smart watch while on campus, we have them bring it to the office for the rest of the day. If they do it a second time, we have them bring it to the office and keep it there for a parent to pick up.

Please help us protect instruction and social interaction time for our Rossome kids!

Drop Off and Pick Up Reminders

Drop Off/ Pick Up Reminders

  • Safety of your child(ren) is our priority. Please pick up and drop off your child in the designated areas.
  • Be patient, especially as we start the school year and the pick/up drop off routines are new to many families. We will have staff to support you and others outside.
  • No drop off/pick up in the bus lane.
  • Drop off may begin no earlier than 8:30am.
  • Pick up line will be along School Avenue from the south of the school to the entry into the parking lot. Do not park and leave your car along School Avenue from 3:00-3:45pm when school pick up is done.
  • If you need to park for pick up, please park on School Avenue to the north of the parking lot entrance so you don't block the pick up line.
  • Pull forward as far as you can. At the end of the day, students will be waiting for your car to arrive near the front of the line to load in your car.
  • Use designated cross walks to access the parking lot or playgrounds.
  • Call the office by 2:00pm if there will be a change in the way your child will normally go home so the teacher can be made aware.
