Welcome to the start of your child’s educational journey! Kindergarten is a milestone filled with discovery, growth, and new friendships, and our district is honored to partner with your family every step of the way. Below, you will find all the resources needed to complete registration, including eligibility guidelines, required documents, and step-by-step enrollment instructions. We look forward to welcoming your young learner to our school community!

Enrollment

Enrollment for the 2027–28 school year opens in February 2027.

  • Easy Online Enrollment: Submit student details and upload required documents (birth certificate, immunization records) through our online portal when it opens.

  • Dual Language Kindergarten:  We are proud to offer a Spanish/English dual language program. The elementary portion begins in kindergarten and is housed at Reed Elementary School. Parents interested in this option should complete the online registration when it opens and complete an interest form and attend an information night  in Feburary. This is a popular program and a lottery is held for the open kindergarten seats. 

  • Open House: Join us on April 14, 2027, to tour your child’s new school! Can’t make it? Contact the school to find another time.

  • Questions: Below are answers to some common questions. Please feel free to call your child’s school or the district office at 1 (208) 922-1000.

  • A child must be age 5 on or before Sept. 1. This deadline was set by the Idaho Legislature. 

  • Kindergarten is full-time in the Kuna School District and free!

  • The online enrollment process opens in February. The district hosts an incoming kindergarten open house on April 14, 2027.  Some elementary schools schedule additional screeners to evaluate the needs of students.

  • Thursday, August 12, 2027. The full calendar is available on our website under calendars.

    This website has downloadable activities to help students practice cutting with scissors.

  • Math Dot Practice Cards

    You can use math dot cards similar to flash cards. There isn’t one right answer. If the dot card has 3 dots on it your child might say: I just saw 3 or I counted…1, 2, 3 or There’s 1 blue dot and 2 red dots and that makes 3. This activity can be used to practice counting, then seeing a number and counting on, then seeing groups of numbers and combining them.

  • Reading Rockets

    Reading Rockets is a national public media literacy initiative that offers resources and information on how young children learn to read and how to support them. It aims to bring research-based reading instruction to life for parents, educators, and anyone working with young learners.

  • Mighty Book

    Starfall is a children's website and app providing interactive, educational games and resources focused on early literacy and math skills for Pre-K through 5th grade. It emphasizes fun learning through play and positive reinforcement, offering a variety of activities, including interactive games, songs, and videos. Starfall aims to help children develop confidence and intrinsic motivation in their learning journey.

  • ABCYa

    ABCya! is a website and app offering a vast library of educational games and activities for pre-K through 6th grade, designed to make learning fun and engaging for kids. The platform provides games across various subjects like math, language arts, science, and more, organized by grade level and topic.

  • ReadWriteThink

    ReadWriteThink.org provides access to an ever-growing collection of free educational materials. This includes hundreds of lesson plans, calendar resources, prints, and interactive tools.
