Dual Enrollment Procedure

Dual enrollment (DE) is offered to students from charter schools, homeschool programs and private schools. Students must be approved for dual enrollment before they can be enrolled at a district school and/or participate in sports/activities.

 Process

2.  If the student wants to attend academic courses at a school other than their zoned school, they must apply and be approved for open enrollment. Please note: State law mandates that dual enrolled students MUST participate in sports and other competitive activities with their zoned school.
3. District reviews app for complete information, verifies signatures and address, reviews space available for requested courses or activities, approves or denies the application, and notifies the school. 

KSD audits sports/activities rosters at the beginning of each season and reaches out to schools to resolve open enrollment or dual enrollment issues for students who live outside their school’s boundaries.

Fees Related to Extra-Curricular Participation for students who are less than full-time KSD students

Note: Marching band and color guard, choir, drama, debate, orchestra, and pep band are one-semester academic courses, and students must enroll in those courses to participate.

The reimbursement costs for extra-curricular participation include use of school uniforms (other than those included in Spirit Packs), coaches’ salaries, bus transportation to and from competitions and facility and grounds expenses. Athletic fees and activity card fees are paid by the athlete at the school level and are not included within the fees listed above.
