Bus Stop Tips for Parents & Riders
- Students must be assigned to a bus to ride. If your student did not ride the bus the previous year, they will not be assigned to a bus unless a request is made by contacting the Transportation Department at (208) 922-1013.
- Please have your student at the bus stop 5 minutes ahead of the bus stop time in the morning. If your bus stop is in a rural area at your home, the bus stop is 15 feet back from the roadside.
- Younger students usually need help learning where their bus stop is located. Teaching them to know the location by landmarks is a good way to help ensure they get off at the correct stop.
- Large items that cannot fit in a backpack are prohibited on buses. All items should be secure within their own seat in a backpack or on their lap. Skateboards are also prohibited on buses.
- Transportation is required to perform two evacuation drills each school year. Typically, these drills are done upon arrival at school, take about 5 minutes, and usually do not cause tardy issues.
Basic Rules for riders:
- Refrain from loud noises that distract the bus driver.
- Remain seated at all times, facing the front, with your back against the seat rest.
- Keep the bus aisles clear.
- Arms and head inside of the bus.
- No talking when the bus is stopped at railroad crossings.
- No eating or drinking.
- Backpacks on lap or on the floor.
- No large instruments or skateboards.
- Zero Tolerance: No weapons, laser pens, alcohol, tobacco, drugs, vape devices, aerosols, perfumes or colognes sprayed in bus.
- Harassment is never tolerated.
Once students have boarded the bus at the school, they can only be released to an administrator at the school or at their assigned bus stop unless prior arrangements have been made with the Transportation Department. If you must get your student off the bus once they have boarded, please contact Transportation. A text to the student's phone will not grant them permission to get off the bus.
Daycare Transportation Agreement
The Kuna School District will provide transportation to and from authorized Daycare Facilities within the attendance school’s boundary.
To ensure the safety of your children, transportation will be provided on a “one destination every day” basis.
If there are schedule changes, it is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to notify the elementary school in writing the day of the change.
Parents or guardians will be responsible for the transportation of their children for the day (s) of schedule changes.

Bus Information is Available In PowerSchool & BusRight
Our transportation team estimates pick-up and drop-off times at bus stops, which you will see in PowerSchool and/or the BusRight app (coming 2026-27).
Every year, we appreciate your patience as we adjust the pickup and drop-off times to adjust routes for new students and with traffic conditions. The adjustment process may take about two weeks. It will be important to check PowerSchool and/or the BusRight app regularly for the most current information.
BusRight App Coming in 2026-27
BusRight our system for our families with children riding the bus to and from school. At the start of the school year, parents/guardians will receive an email inviting them to activate their BusRight App to access information about their student(s) bus service. With the BusRight, parents can receive
- Live GPS Tracking: Parents can see the bus's location on a map in real-time as it moves along its route.
- ETA Notifications: The app sends push notifications when the bus is approaching a child's stop, helping families avoid waiting outside in bad weather.
- Route Status Alerts: You receive alerts when the bus begins its route and when it completes its journey.
- Direct One-Way Communication: The transportation team can send instant updates regarding delays, traffic, or mechanical issues directly to the app.

Parents/Guardians can find their child(ren)’s bus stop using these steps:
- Log into PowerSchool with your parent/guardian credentials
- Click on the Transportation Info button on the left side of the screen
What if there is no bus number?
Students must be assigned to a bus to ride. If you do not see a bus number/bus stop/bus stop time, your student is likely not assigned to a bus.
Staff are available from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday during the school year. 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the summer. The start of school creates a high call volume. We appreciate your patience and ask you to please leave a message.
Early Release Wednesdays - Elementary & Middle Schools
2-hour early release will move the drop-off times 2 hours early. For example, if the normal drop-off time is 4:05, the Wednesday drop-off time will be 2:05.
