Dear KSD Families,
It’s hard to believe we’re already halfway through the school year! Our theme, One Step at a Time, feels especially meaningful as we balance the learning happening in classrooms today with planning for what’s ahead.
#FutureReady: Looking Ahead
This past Saturday, our seniors hosted their second Kinder–Senior Handoff Event during the Varsity Basketball game (photo)—a great reminder of how important transitions are for students and families.
In the coming weeks, several key transition activities will take place. Fifth graders will begin learning about their middle school options, eighth graders will continue exploring high school pathways and making important choices, and in February we’ll start registering next year’s kindergartners.
Thanks to advocacy from our Superintendent Advisory Council, we’ve expanded opportunities to help families navigate these transition years. Together, we’ve created Parent Universities and events designed to support families as students move from one stage to the next.
Please mark your calendars for these upcoming events:
- Feb. 4 – Parent University: Welcome to Middle School (Parents of Incoming 6th Graders) | Kuna High School
- Feb. 25 – College & Career Night (Grades 5–11) | Kuna High School
- Feb. 25 – Dual Language Program Incoming Kindergartner Information Night | Reed Elementary School
- March 24 – Parent University: Welcome to Kindergarten | Swan Falls High School
- April 15 – Incoming Kindergarten Open House | Your child's elementary school
- April 20 – Parent University: Welcome to High School (Incoming 9th Graders) | Kuna High School
- May 20 – Open House for Incoming 6th Graders | Your child’s middle school
We value our partnership with you and appreciate walking alongside your family through each step. Together, we can help every student feel supported, confident, and ready for what’s next.
