Cheetah Chatter

Happy Friday

Good afternoon Cheetah families!
We have officially made it to May. We find ourselves nearing the end of the school year. This is a busy and exciting time of the year.

Next week, we’ll be celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week! We are incredibly grateful for the dedication, passion, and hard work of our teachers. Please join us in recognizing and thanking them for the lasting impact they make every day. Take a look below how our students are celebrating each day next week.

Also with so many events going on in May, please be sure to check every week's Cheetah Chatter to get all the important information.

Reminder: Next Friday (5/9) there will be NO school, it is a teacher in-service day.

We also have extra yearbooks available They are $20 and the forms are in our front office if you would like to purchase one.

Lastly, please call the office by 2:30 if there are changes to how your student is getting home. This allows our staff to be able to get the message to the teacher and your student in time.

Hope you all have an amazing weekend ! As always, please reach out if you have any questions.

Welcome Night for Hubbard and Ross

Welcome Night May 5
Hubbard and Ross are wonderful schools, and they are ready to welcome new Timberwolves and Rams next year!

If you are not familiar with these schools, both are small, welcoming places where students are known and supported. Hubbard serves kindergarten through third grade, focusing on strong early learning foundations. Ross serves fourth and fifth graders from Hubbard and Indian Creek, offering engaging academics and opportunities to prepare for middle school. Ross also is a Nationally recognized AVID Showcase School.

You’ll learn more about both schools at Welcome Nights on Monday. Here are the details:
May 5 |  6:30–7:30 p.m.
Hubbard Elementary (K–3), 311 E. Porter Street
Ross Elementary (4–5), 610 N. School Ave.

Open Enrollment
We will also share information about open enrollment — the process to request a different school for your child. If approved, families are responsible for transportation.
  • Open enrollment is not available for K–3 students.
  • It may be an option for next year’s 4th and 5th graders to stay at their current school to finish at their elementary school.
We expect the open enrollment application will open after the May 13 school board meeting. The deadline to apply would be Friday, May 23.

Special Programs/Services
Answers to some questions we’ve received:
  • What about Dual Language Program students? These students will remain at Reed Elementary.
  • What about students served in an Extended Resource Room? Hubbard Elementary will open new classrooms to support students eligible for this special education placement. Families with children in ERR have been contacted directly about placements for 2025-26.
  • What about students who qualify for McKinney Vento Supports? These families will be contacted about their school placement for 2025-26.

We understand you may have questions, and we’re here to help. Thank you for being part of the Kuna School District.

Sincerely,
Kim Bekkedahl
Superintendent, Kuna School District
