Board approves changes to Silver Trail, Reed, Hubbard, Ross attendance boundaries

Trustees approved the boundary changes that will shift some Reed and Silver Trail students to Hubbard (K-3) and Ross (4-5) for the 2025-26 school year. The change will provide some relief for overcrowding at Reed and Silver Trail.

Clarification on Kuna Youth Sports Complex

Assistant Superintendent Jason Reddy shared that reports of the school district committing land to a proposed Kuna Youth Sports Complex are not accurate. District staff met with the project developer in October to learn about the concept and no agreements were made.

Update on budget for 2025-26

Chief Financial Officer Brad Steadman reviewed information about revenue and expenses as the budget for the coming school year is being prepared for the June meeting. What’s next? The district’s budget will be published in area newspapers and a public hearing will be held at the June 10 meeting.

Capital Plan Task Force identify need for more learning spaces

Assistant Superintendent Reddy reported that the task force met Monday and reviewed the work of the 2022 task force and its 10-year plan. The group agreed students needed more learning spaces. The task force meets again June 9. He noted that the Legislature changed the deadline to place questions on the ballot to 10th Friday before an election. That would mean the Board would need to make a decision no later than Aug. 29 for a November election.

Bids awarded for Hubbard annex roof, asphalt maintenance

Trustees accepted:

  • A $325,504 bid from Curtis Clean Sweep Inc. for asphalt maintenance on school and district parking lots, walkways, and blacktop.
  • A $66,260 bid from DNA Roofing for the Hubbard annex roof

Both projects will be completed this summer and are funded with state facilities money.
