Congratulations to our Fall Sports Teams and Participants!

We celebrated our Kuna Middle School athletes this week with a Pep Assembly. We had a great time with our coaches giving shout-outs to our student athletes.

Academic Supports

The staff at Kuna Middle School is committed to helping our students succeed academically! We have many programs and resources designed to give your child the support they need to do well in school. We encourage all families to use these resources. Together, we can help our students reach their academic goals.

Tutor.com

Tutor.com is an online service that connects students with live tutors to help them with schoolwork. Think of it like a library study room, but it's on the internet and you can get help any time of the day or night. It's designed to give students one-on-one help to understand tough subjects and finish their homework.

WIN Time

WIN Time stands for "What I Need." It's a special time built into the school day to provide every student with personalized support. It allows teachers to give extra help to students who are struggling, and offer challenging and interesting activities to those who are on track. We started our WIN Time this week. WIN is attached to student's 3rd period class and students move to the appropriate class based on academic data.

Teacher Office Hours

Teacher office hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays 2:30-3:15pm. Students can get extra help from their teachers outside of class time. These sessions allow students to work with their teacher one-on-one or in a small group. Students can ask specific questions about homework or tests, and teachers can explain things in new ways. There is no afterschool transportation.

Grade Checks

Kuna Middle School will check grades for all students every Friday during Advisory. Parents will receive an email with their child's grades every Friday evening. We encourage you to spend a few moments each weekend reviewing your child's academic progress with them.
Keeping an eye on your child's grades is an important way to stay updated on how they are doing and to find any areas where they may need extra help.
If you have any questions or concerns about your child's grades, please reach out to their teachers. The best way to contact teachers is through ParentSquare direct message.

Student Attendance

Student attendance is important for success in school. Students should be present as much as they can. If your child needs to miss school because they are sick or due to a family issue, please let the school know as soon as you can. You can excuse your child in these ways:

If you get a notification from Parent Square that your child is absent, you can reply to that message to excuse them.
If you are notified that your student is absent during the day, you can also message the teacher through ParentSquare with questions.

Advisory Update

Discovering How We Learn Best

This week in advisory, students explored their learning styles by taking a short quiz to see whether they learn best by seeing, hearing, or doing. We talked about how everyone learns differently and how even personality can play a role. For example, some students focus best when working alone, while others learn more easily through group discussions or hands-on activities.

After the quiz, students reflected on their results, identifying their strengths and thinking about how to adjust when a lesson doesn’t match their preferred style. It was a fun, eye-opening activity that helped them understand what works best for them and how to make learning more enjoyable in any setting.

Important Upcoming Dates in Advisory

October 15 - Math SICA
October 20-23 - Preparation for Student-Led Conferences
October 29 - Reading SICA

Successful 50/50 Fundraiser

Thank you to everyone who came out to Wednesday's big football game! Your support was much appreciated by our athletes and coaches.

The cheerleader's 50/50 raffle fundraiser was a huge success. The proceeds will be used to purchase fun spirit items to toss into the crowd at future games. Matt Homsher was the night's big winner!

  1. Drive Slowly and Carefully: Always watch for students, crossing guards, and other cars.
  2. Use Designated Zones: Please use the pick-up and drop-off areas and avoid double parking to keep traffic moving smoothly.
  3. Use Crosswalks: Encourage your student to use crosswalks and avoid walking through the parking lot.
  4. Be Patient and Courteous: Let’s be kind and support each other during these busy times.
By following these safety rules, we can help keep our school community safe.
