Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we approach the end of the quarter, I want to emphasize the importance of monitoring your child’s attendance. Regular attendance is crucial for academic success, and consistent participation helps students stay engaged and on track.
If your student has received a doctor's note for an absence, please ensure it is submitted to the attendance secretary.
Please be aware that if your student exceeds or is close to exceeding 3+ absences in a class, a letter will be emailed home at the end of the quarter (10/25).
Please see the State Attendance Policy below for more information:
The following information applies to attendance in the Kuna School District:
- Students are required to be in attendance at least 90% of school session days.
- Five absences in a class is the maximum number - anything over exceeds the 90% policy.
- Absences verified (EA) or unverified (UA) will count against a student’s 90%.
- Medically excused (MD) and a school excused (FT/SA) will not count against a student’s 90%.
- Medically excused (MD), absences require a medical note from the doctor or dentist.
- When a student has a planned absence from school and they access their work electronically the absences may be coded as Distance Learning (DL). Please see the district handbook for more information.
- 5+ absences during the current semester in one class will result in a loss of credit. If a student has more than 5 absences in a class, they will receive instructions at the end of the semester on how to appeal for credit.
Thank you for your attention to this matter and for your continued support in your child's education. We look forward to seeing you during parent teacher conferences next week!
