Kindness - Attitude - Values - Excellence

November 9, 2025

Kuna Middle School Students of the Month:

Congratulations to Rehvyn Reizenstein, Thomas Perry, Rheagan Hare, Sophia Jensen, Scarlett Hart, and Hayde Figuerson for being our October students of the month. They were chosen by their math teachers for their great attitudes! These students get to choose music for passing periods and they received a gift certificate.

Student Attendance

Student attendance is important for success in school. If your child needs to miss school because they are sick or due to a family issue, please let the school know as soon as you can. You can excuse your child in these ways:

If you get a notification from Parent Square that your child is absent, you can reply to that message to excuse them.
If you are notified that your student is absent during the day, you can also message the teacher through ParentSquare with questions.

School Lunch Information

Students are not allowed to “charge” meals (eat now and pay later). Please ensure your child has funds available for school meals.

Families can pay for meals by using the LINQ system or by cash/check.

💻 LINQ Connect-Online Payment System. Set up a free online account. With this system, you can add money to your child(ren)’s accounts, set up low-balance alerts, monitor your child(ren)’s spending, and view school menus.
LINQ CONNECT Link below.

📝 Cash or Check:
Send a check (payable to Kuna School District CNP). Please include your child’s full name on the check.
Send cash in a sealed envelope with your child’s name on it.

⚠️ Please note: Schools cannot accept debit cards.

🍎 Free & Reduced-Price Meals
Families are encouraged to apply online for free or reduced-price meals.

See the link at the bottom of this newsletter for more information including lunch menus or please call our Child Nutrition Team at (208) 922-1101.

The KMS PTO has established the Feed it Forward Program as a bridge for families who are in between lunch payments. This allows students to eat free of charge when their lunch account balance is low. Feed it Forward is intended as a temporary service to ensure every student gets a meal at school. If a child accesses Feed it Forward for several days in a row, counselors will contact parents with options for payment or assistance.

Advisory Update

A pink pig with mud on its legs, a thought bubble with a question mark, and the words 'PIG personality TEST'.
Text on a teal background explains personality traits based on pig drawing placement.
This week in Advisory, students completed the first of three problem-solving lessons, an important skill that will serve them throughout life. They also took a lighthearted personality test where they drew pigs to learn more about their individual traits.

To end the week, students participated in a lesson on “The Power of a Positive Attitude.” Teachers began the class with a noticeably negative tone, which caught students off guard. After revealing that the behavior was intentional, students reflected on how quickly attitude can influence the classroom environment. They then practiced reworking common negative thoughts into more positive, productive ones.

Tutor.com

Tutor.com is an online service that connects students with live tutors to help them with schoolwork. Think of it like a library study room, but it's on the internet and you can get help any time of the day or night. It's designed to give students one-on-one help to understand tough subjects and finish their homework.

Teacher Office Hours

Teacher office hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays 2:30pm-3:15pm. Students can get extra help from their teachers outside of class time. These sessions allow students to work with their teacher one-on-one or in a small group. Students can ask specific questions about homework or tests, and teachers can explain things in new ways. Please note, there is no afterschool transportation.

WIN Time

WIN Time stands for "What I Need." It's a special time built into the school day to provide every student with personalized support. It allows teachers to give extra help to students who are struggling, and offer challenging and interesting activities to those who are on track. WIN is attached to student's 3rd period class and students move to the appropriate class based on academic data.
