Happy Thanksgiving!

Dear Cheetah Families,

As we head into Thanksgiving break, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on the focus of our month: kindness and gratitude. Our students have spent time thinking about what they are thankful for and practicing acts of gratitude throughout the school community. Their reflections and actions have been truly heartwarming to see.

As a school, we are incredibly thankful for all of our students. We are grateful that you share them with us each day, and we deeply appreciate your support and partnership as we watch our little Cheetahs grow and learn.

We wish you and your family a warm, restful, and joyful Thanksgiving.

With gratitude,
Principal Moore

Report Cards and Progress Reports

Report cards and progress reports are being sent home today.

Our report cards are standards-based and reflect your child’s progress so far this school year. We expect students to meet the standard by the end of the school year.

If your child receives special education services, their progress notes will also be included.

Please be sure to check your child’s backpack or folder for these important documents.
Thank you for your continued support!

AVID Elementary: How You Can Support Reading at Home Over the Break

As we move into the break, we also encourage our families to continue supporting daily reading at home. Even just 15–20 minutes a day can make a big difference in building confidence, strengthening comprehension, and keeping students’ skills sharp.

You can support your child by using a few simple AVID critical reading strategies at home:
  • Ask questions before, during, and after reading (“What do you think this story will be about?” “Why did the character do that?” “What do you think will happen next?”).
  • Have your child retell the story in their own words to check understanding.
  • Talk about new vocabulary and make connections to real-life experiences.
  • Encourage them to visualize what’s happening in the text to build deeper comprehension.

These small habits help students become active, thoughtful readers—and your support at home makes an enormous difference.
Thank you for all you do to promote learning beyond the classroom. We hope you enjoy reading together and making memories over the break!

Lost and Found Items

Parents, our Lost and Found is FULL. We have everything from water bottles and lunch boxes to pants and coats—and more!

Please encourage your child to look through the lost items and retrieve anything that belongs to them.

All items will also be on display during Reed’s Fiesta on December 6th for parents to look through. Any items not claimed by the end of the event will be donated.

To help prevent future mix-ups, we strongly recommend writing your child’s name inside their coat, jacket, or other frequently misplaced items.
Thank you for your help!

Yearbook Cover Design Contest

The Yearbook Cover Contest is officially open for design submissions!

Students are invited to create and submit their original artwork for a chance to have their design featured on this year’s school yearbook cover. Submission forms are available in the library.

If you have any questions, please see Mrs. A or Mrs. C for more information.

Get those creative juices flowing and design the best yearbook cover yet — we can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Picking Up Students Early

Just a friendly reminder....

If you need to pick up your child early, please call the office by 2:00 PM on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and by 12:30 PM on Wednesdays.

This allows us enough time to locate your child, as schedules often change throughout the day and students may be in specials, recess, or other activities. Calling ahead ensures your child is ready and waiting when you arrive.

Thank you for your cooperation and helping us keep dismissal smooth and safe for all students!
